The Vickless Falcons proved to be a worthy opponent with Joey Harrington enjoying a break out game but the Panthers went down to Georgia and pulled out a come from behind victory.
Joey Harrington’s name was not leading anyone’s top QB’s list going into this game. After back to back losses atMinnesota and Jacksonville, the Falcons were looking forward to their home opener with the Panthers.
Harrington managed to frustrate the Panthers secondary by going 31 – 44for 361 yards with two TD’s and no picks. Our suspect secondary was glaring against the Texans and didn’t look much better against the Falcons. We must have more pass rush! We cannot afford to allow a QB to sit back in the pocket and pick us apart like Harrington did on Sunday.
A tip of the hat to the Rajun Cajun., Jake looked real good Sunday. A different Jakefrom last season who often looked anxious, flustered and hurried. Granted, we hadspoty O-line play because of key injuries but the results were bad passes and way too many Int’s. This year Jake has eight TD’s in three games and only one pick.
That said, I must award this week’s game ball to DeShaun Foster. The Falcons have a stingy run defense with the likes of John Abraham and Keith Brookings leading the pack. DeShaun finished with 122 yards on 20 carries and one TD and one pass for 12 yards and a TD. Good job DeShaun and congratulations on an outstanding game.
The Panthers now share the NFC South lead with The Buccaneers at 2 – 1. Next Sunday will be a showdown of division leaders at Bank of America. O yeah, the Saints are still o’ fer.
