Never mind the two minute drill, let’s talk about the 2 second drill. With the game on the line you knew there was going to be drama from the Cardiac Cats.  The Rajun Cajun did his best Tommy John impression and fired a strike to Dante Rosario in the back of the Chargers end zone to seal a come from behind victory  in the road season opener.

Clearly a case can be made for Dante Rosario receiving the season opening game ball. I’m always some what conflicted on who gets more cred in situations like this, the QB or the Receiver. I mean…this is a team sport right?

After much deliberation and a good nights sleep,  the game ball must go to... the Rajun Cajun, the pride of Breaux Bridge and the true Cardiac Cat. After ending a promising 2007 season with an elbow injury Jake showed is passion and desire to win by electing the Tommy John surgery. Look out Johann Santana The mound might not be big enough for the two of you.

It was an impressive see saw battle, with the officials doing all they could to dis the Cats on the questionable calls. Yes, Philip Rivers went to NC State and yes he’s got the QB moxie but after multiple replays how the officials couldn’t see that his foot was clearly beyond the  line of scrimmage at the 40 yard line is a mystery.  Wouldn’t you know it, the very next play he drops a 24 yarder to Antonio Gates for the go ahead TD. Never can't out Jake & the Cardiac Cats.

There were many positive take aways from this match-up.

Vegas had the Chargers by nine. Mike Ditka must be a genius because no one at Fox would touch the Cats and Ditka was the lone analyst @ ESPN who did.  it was the season opener, on the road, nine point underdog, no Steve Smith, 1st game action for Jake coming off surgery and multiple personnel changes.

DeAngleo Williams & Jonathan Stewart are a force to reckoned with.  The O-line was impressive and the D stood up. Our kicking game has got to be the envy of the league. Special nod to John Kasay you looked  mahhhhveelous!

For those of you who didn’t get out to the 18th Amendment , we had a great  crowd and high fives all around as the game ended on a high note.

Mark Menard & Vicki have done a lot of upgrades, gone is the pool table, more room, more leather & more plasmas!
