(Charlotte, NC) The Carolina Panthers finally give Dan Henning the pink slip. After finishing the regular season at 8 - 8 , Henning and two others let go

I'm not going to bash Dan Henning. I liked Dan when he was the head coach with the Atlanta Falcons. He is a class act and has an impressive resume. Unfortunately, on the downside the game has passed him by and it's time for some new blood in the organization.

If you go back to the 2nd game of the season in Minnesota, with the game in hand and all that needs to be done is run down the clock, why in the world would you put a 'trick play' in the hands of Chris Gamble? Yes, it's a rhetorial question but begs an answer. I'll give you the answer. Because you do not have good judgement. I know, many will say, 'if it had worked, it would have been brilliant'...not. Even if the play worked it would have still been a bone head play. All you needed to do is run the ball and burn the clock.

One win, how many times last season did we say 'just one win'. When was the last time you can remember the NFC being so tight? Yes, it's been a while but in a league where every win comes at a price and none come easy, sometimes you have to go out there and take them.

There is no percentage in dwelling on the past. I credit the organization for stepping up and demonstrating some bold leadership. It's time for a change and at a time when so many teams are in a state of transition, the timing is perfect.

Two other assistants  were let go. Offensive line coach Mike Maser and secondary coach Rod Perry.

Now on to the business of finding an Offensive Coordinator who's innovative, creative and knowledgeable. We need an OC who can make 'in-game' adjustments and is able to maximize the talent on a robust roster!
